Hi Reader, I hope you've had a great week until now and are on the path to finish strong for the rest of the month. We're almost to fall, and this gal couldn't be more excited. It's my favorite time of year. I'm deep into my goal of moving into a more natural lifestyle before 2026, and I'm inviting my friends to join me by joining my latest challenge, Replace This with That. Every day for 30 days, we'll replace one less-than-healthy store-bought item with a safer, natural homemade one. From easy breadmaking to homemade body butters and laundry detergent (perfect for homemade DIY gifts for the upcoming holiday), this challenge is the perfect way to get into the habit of swapping store-bought for homemade. I'm documenting my journey to a more natural homesteading lifestyle on my blog. It's a great place to learn how easy it is to make your own stuff. I share a ton of videos, recipes, and tutorials from others on my FB page and in my FB group. Do you DIY stuff in your household? What's your favorite thing to make instead of buying? I learn new things every day. Last week, I explored making homemade mayonnaise, muffins, and flavored bread. Be sure to follow my blog to grab your free copy of my upcoming book, From Scratch Basics. This week, I'm teaching my daughter how to make homemade soap, sugar scrub, and body butter because she wants to start selling them to save up money for Christmas shopping for her friends. She just got nominated for the 7th-grade Homecoming court, so as you can imagine, she's got a lot of friends to spoil. I love that she sees the value of a thoughtful, homemade gift over an expensive store-bought item valued for its brand name. With my hubby out of town, she's been spending a lot of time with me, so I'm not lonely. Her generosity astounds me. She's also been having fun helping in the kitchen. She put on her favorite custom playlist last night and helped me with dinner. I gave her instructions, and she assembled and cooked the meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, banana nut muffins, and blueberry mint yogurt frozen bites for the pups (she selected the recipes from my Family Fixing cookbook and my Pawsitively Delicious dog recipe cookbook). Everything she cooked was from scratch. We cooked large servings because I meal prep meals for our oldest daughter (19), who just got her first place. As an amateur cook, she relies heavily on DFY (done-for-you) dishes. We all remember the struggle of those first few months of independence, where just about everything came out of a box, the frozen food section, or tasted like char from the burnt scorching of inexperienced cooking. Nothing burns you out from cooking at home like poorly tasting meals you made. So, I make it easy for my two oldest to be independent and build their cooking confidence. Check out "Confessions of an Xennial Mom" for more about how I encourage self-reliance in all four of my children. Want to get your kids involved in cooking? Check out my cookbooks for kids, sweet monthly memberships, and fun card decks. I use all of my life experiences as inspiration for all of my content creation, whether it's blog posts, social media content, or digital products I create to list in my store. Like my fun prompt cards for home cooks, digital product creators, and writers. Or my awesome monthly memberships for adults and kids. Whether you want to end the dilemma of choosing your meals every damn day, need prompts to inspire you, or need something to keep your kids busy so you can catch a break, Sarandipity's has something for everyone.
